Whistle down the wind on the island of La Gomera
A typical itinerary on this walking holiday in La Gomera
After a one-hour boat ride to La Gomera we'll arrive in time to enjoy the views and go for a swim before supper.
Through palms and basalt flows
A lovely walk through a very quiet region of the island where palm is grown for its sap. A fascinating day of discovery with amazing views and wonderful old lava flows.
Garajonay National Park
Famed for its ever-green Laurel, this subtropical forest provides the most wonderful and diverse canopy under which to walk. Good paths, shade, over 2000 plant species and a sense of peace.
Vallehermoso, a special place
This is a day of spectacular panoramic views of the coast, laurel forests and volcanic landscapes. We stop by a lovely small hermitage before descending through giant terraces of grain to Vallehermoso –the home of Enekoiz, you will learn about the agriculture and its impact on the landscape
The hidden vines
More fabulous paths and magnificent vistas, we pass relics of man’s time here – brick kilns, old cereal and potato terraces and stop to visit Bodega Montoro for wine tasting and a tour of the farm. Walking on we stop at an abandoned port still standing against all the force of the Atlantic.
A grasp on Gomeran Pottery
Walking from the sacred mountain of La Fortaleza, with its 300 archaeological sites we pass Chipude famed for its church and where we discover the traditional pottery techniques first brought from Africa – a time before the wheel or moulds. Later, lunch is provided by an 80 year old lady who has been serving guests in her house for over 40 years.
After breakfast, we will take a short ferry ride back to Tenerife airport.
