By waterways through a botanical paradise
A typical itinerary on this walking holiday in Madeira
We drive to the Pousada dos Vinhaticos and arrive in time to explore before dinner.
An introduction to levadas
We follow a fast-flowing levada (irrigation channel) through the dappled light of the laurel trees, delighting at the ever more dramatic views.
High peaks levadas
We walk to one of the most remote parts of the island, with fabulous views of villages, mountains and waterfalls.
Water water everywhere...
Rabacal Valley is a natural wonder. From its pousada we walk to a waterfall. Later, we reach a lake below a cliff from which 25 natural springs cascade.
From the east point of the island, the minibus gives us a good start for our climb of Pico Ruivo, the tallest peak on the island with breathtaking views.
Relax and swim, discover Funchal, or visit tropical gardens.
Lonely levada and hot springs
From the island’s northeastern most point, we walk through cliff tunnels, back to Porto Moniz, a natural spa. Why not end your day with a dip in the hot springs.
Guests are transferred to the airport to suit their travel plans.
Note: This is a selection of the many options available on this walking holiday in Madeira. Weather conditions, group interests and the tutor will influence the final itinerary.
