Blue Bay

Cliffs and citadels
Miles of coastline and sea cliffs and the world's most ancient building together with brilliant spring flowers makes for a great week of walking.

A typical week

Arrival day

Leaving Malta airport, we travel to the ferry port, and a short crossing past the island of Comino and on to Gozo. After a brief transfer to the hotel, we gather before dinner, perhaps have a swim and ready ourselves for the week ahead.

Xlendi and the Southern cliffs

We climb to the highest cliffs of Gozo following the majestic southern coast – part of the EU's Natura 2000 network of protected areas. We visit the small fjordlike sunken valley of Mgarr ix-Xini before continuing along the coast to Mgarr.

Dwejra and the Wild West

The unique geomorpholigical wild west coast of Gozo is best seen from the high cliffs of Wardija – a place chosen millenia ago by the Punic people for locating a sanctuary of their own. We continue to the Azure Window and the Inland Sea (with optional beer or boat trip) and then follow an old path, finishing at the solitary legend-rich chapel of San Dimitri.

Zebbug, Marsalforn and the Citadel

Wandering down to the sea through the small hilltop village of Zebbug we arrive at the beautiful mini fjord of Wied l- Ghasri. Later we pass the wonderful collection of salt pans before taking the bus to Victoria with its fortified Citadel.

Eastern Gozo

From Calypso's Cave to Mgarr harbour, we follow rural and coastal paths to the north-east corner of the island. On the way we visit the sandy beach of Ramla l- Hamra and get a preview of Comino.

Romantic Comino

A short ferry ride takes us to this romantic island. A bird sanctuary, we'll discover coastal cliffs and caves, a medieval chapel, a peaceful sandy beach, 17th century Knights' fortifications. We finish at the Blue Lagoon for a swim.
