The highs and lows of Umbria
A typical itinerary on this walking holiday in Umbria
From Rome airport we arrive in time to stroll around the town and soak up the atmosphere before dinner.
Meanders on Mount Subasio
A day in the Natural Park of Mount Subasio with peaceful paths across open meadows and ancient oak and chestnut trees. Below us lies Assisi.
The hills of Spoleto
A beautiful walk to the ancient town of Spoleto. A mystical landscape with ancient spiritual associations, ruined castles, abbeys, abandoned villages, chapels and a 280ft high aqueduct.
Medieval Towers and San Martino
We follow paths through ancient woodland and vineyards. We continue through ancient agricultural hamlets encircled by olive groves before descending to the ancient town of San Martino and later the fabulous town of Todi.
An easy day of walking through dusty roads and a small suspended bridge we will arrive at the walled town of Fratta Todina.
A great opportunity to visit Perugia and its many art treasures or magical Assisi.
In the afternoon we enjoy a gentle explore around our hamlet.
White tracks and twin tops
From the medieval hamlet of Montecchio we follow the dusty white tracks that snake through forests to gain wonderful views over the sea and mountains.
Up into the heavens
From Lubriano we follow an ancient route to the spectacular old town of Civita di Bagnoregio. Perched high at the end of a narrow peninsula it’s a great place to end the day.
Titignano and lakeside lingering
A local walk, beneath Titignano, along the shores of Lake Corbara, surrounded by rolling holls.
We depart early for Rome airport.

Where we stay on this walking holiday in Umbria, Italy
Hotel Relais il Canalicchio
Nestled amongst the rolling green countryside of Umbria, Relais Il Canalicchio overlooks vineyards and olive groves, standing like a small gem proud on the summit of a hill. It was once a medieval village with a church and tower. The panoramic restaurant serves fine Umbrian cuisine, together with classic Italian dishes.
Airport transfer time
Approximately 2 hours
Our hotel occupies the whole village of Titignano, now a modern estate complete with forty bedrooms decorated in a traditional Italian style, a church (perfect for our singing groups!), traditional restaurant serving handmade pasta, olive oil, bread, truffle and game, an outdoor swimming pool and glorious panoramic views of the surrounding hills and vineyards.
