Our walking holidays weave through Tuscan hills and vineyards from village to village. In Lazio we follow ancient Etruscan paths through meadows and woodland. Our new holiday in Sicily leads us through citrus scented lemon groves, and in Gran Paradiso the views of snow peaked alps and tranquil lakes are simply breathtaking.

In Tuscany we are based in San Quirico d'Orcia in the province of Siena, where the views of cypress trees and rolling green hills are the background of Renaissance art. Our walks take us through olive groves and vineyards with opportunities to stop off for a wine-tasting. We visit some stunning Tuscan towns and villages where we will have time to linger and explore.

In Lazio, near Rome, our aim is to discover some of the ancient Etruscan history on foot in its natural environment, away from the formality of museums and official historical sites. Stefano our knowledgeable guide brings the landscape's history to life and listens out for signs of wolves and wild boar in the woods and valleys. We also visit castles, papal palaces, volcanos and a necropolis or two.

I need not say how lucky you are to have Stefano as a Tour guide. I could travel to Italy forever and not find some of the locations he takes your clients to.
WALKING HOLIDAY
ITALY - 2010

Sicily is presided over by smoking Mt Etna and our walks take us over the lava fields at the base and up to the summit; another day through fertile valleys of lemon groves. Many civilisations have left their mark on the island's archaeology. We visit prehistoric sites, Syracuse with its Roman temple ruins, and the cliff top city of Taormina with its ducal palace. On your free day there is an option to visit Catania with its handsome Duomo and castle, or the beaches nearby are very appealing.

Gran Paradiso is an area of extraordinary beauty in the northern alps of Italy, right on the border with France, where the backdrop is snow tipped mountains, crystal clear lakes and waterfalls. We drive high into the mountains to the glacial plains, home of chamois alpine goat, lynx, wolf, golden eagles and marmots. Panoramic views lead us back to Lake Bellagarda.

In the National Park of Abruzzo, we are able to offer two grades of walking in spite of being high in the Apennine mountain chain. The region is famed for its wildlife – brown bear, lynx, chamois and wolf, but perhaps less known are its beautiful stone-built medieval villages.
