Where we paint - click on a region
Our walking holidays in Italy are based in Abruzzo, Lazio and Tuscany. These regions offer landscapes that beg to be walked, with hilltop villages, hills picked out by lone cypresses, and delightful paths weaving from village to village that urge you to walk on and on... Our trips in Tuscany are based in San Quirico d'Orcia in the heart of quintessential, southern Tuscany. Every image we all have in our mind's eye of the Tuscan landscape is fulfilled here! The walks take us across gently rolling hills, through olive groves, vineyards (with opportunities to stop off for a wine-tasting!) and some stunning Tuscan towns and villages where we will have plenty of time to linger and explore.
The holiday was excellent with superb enthusiastic leaders and in a fabulous location. Nothing was too much trouble and the organisation excellent.
WALKING HOLIDAY
ITALY - 2009 Our walking holidays in Umbria offer another side of Italy, a little explored landscape, punctuated with well preserved medieval towns, ancient beech woods, orchards of almonds and apricots and cool, wooded river valleys, with the Tiber gently winding its way south towards Rome. In the National Park of Abruzzo, we are able to offer two grades of walking in spite of being high in the Apennine mountain chain. The region is famed for its wildlife – brown bear, lynx, chamois and wolf, but perhaps less known are its beautiful stone-built medieval villages. |
