Gentle journey in 'God's own country'
These short walks, in the company of local guides, are designed to immerse you in the sounds, smells and colours of Kerala. The walks are vividly contrasting and include meandering through villages, winding your way through the tea gardens and pickers and experiencing the tranquillity of the canal-side tracks.

Arrival day

Transfer from Cochin airport to our first hotel in The Backwaters region.

The Backwaters – four nights*

Our days are spent exploring the lagoon and canal systems on foot and by boat.
Transfer – drive to Periyar.
*Note: One night on houseboat, November only.

Periyar Tiger Reserve – three nights

A day wandering through spice gardens filled with cardamon, pepper, fenugreek and cinnamon. A free day is included with one option being a trek in the Tiger Reserve.
Transfer – drive to Munnar.

The Western Ghats – three nights

We stay in the hill-station of Munnar. At 1,500 metres, this vibrant small town is set amidst the lush, green tea gardens that contour the landscape. Our walks lead us in and around the fresh green landscape of this tea-growing area.
Transfer - drive to Fort Cochin.

Fort Cochin – three nights

We stay on the ancient headland that separates The Backwaters from the Indian Ocean. This old European settlement and the many wonderful buildings remind us of its rich colonial past. Our walks here feature much of the area's fascinating history with its wonderful old synagogue, fantastical Chinese fishing nets and the burial place of Vasco de Gama. Good shopping in the old town.
