Whether you are an experienced hiker or someone who likes to amble rather than ramble, there is an Authentic Adventure for you.

'Walking over lemons' in Andalucia is where is all started for us and we are pleased to be returning to the Subbetica natural park again this year. The region is famous for its neolithic caves. Our walkers walk through steep olive groves, past vultures circling the cliffs, taking in the views of little whitewashed villages clinging to the craggy outcrops of the mountains.

Gozo, the little island off Malta with its citadel of the Knights of Malta, is a new walking destination for us, and provides a chance to spot dozens of species of migrating birds stopping off on their route. Also new for us is the picturesque Greek island of Santorini, with its myth of Atlantis. The views of whitewashed churches and sparkling blue sea will refresh the senses.

Walking in Lanzarote has been one of our surprises, the tapestry of salt pans and volcanic lava fields creating a unique landscape that is unlike anywhere else.

Italy remains one of our best loved destinations for walking in beautiful scenery with Stefano and his team of fascinating guides to explain all about the wildlife and history of his country. We will be led through the vineyards and farmsteads around the Val d'Orcia - Tuscany's classic wine producing landscape, or along Etruscan paths through the woods of Lazio, visiting castles and palazzios along the way. Stefano is also introducing a new holiday in Sicily, an archaeological gem in the Mediterranean, where the pace of life among the lemon orchards and olive groves remains almost untouched by the modern world.

For those who prefer demanding walks we have a new walking holiday in the Italian Alps at Gran Paradiso with its amazing backdrop of lakes and mountains.

The languid pace of life in Kerala in India is a delight for meandering along the canal paths and steeping through the lightly scented tea gardens is one of our more exotic adventures. A true delight, the spices and colours of Kerala will linger in the memory.

Surrounded by the undeniable rhythms of Hispanic music, cobbled streets that wind amongst the colonial buildings, palm fringed sandy beaches and lush sugar cane producing valleys, Cuba never fails to impress and amaze. On foot you can meet the real people of this outstanding island, of the tourist route and experience the real authentic Cuba.

Selecting your holiday

Your choice will be based on the regions in which you're interested, the dates available and the grade that suits you. If in doubt please phone. When selecting your grade it is worth remembering that these holidays are far more than a good walk.

What you need to take

We recommend that you wear walking boots. You will also need a small day sack for your food and water and although we hate to mention it, waterproofs. We send out an equipment list with our booking confirmations but if you have any queries about equipment, please give us a call.

Walking grades

The walks are graded so we recommend you check the rating and choose a walk within your comfortable range for a really enjoyable holiday. Walking within your ability leaves more energy for the whole experience.

How the holidays work

We lead five full days of guided walks during the week, several of which start from the hotel. When required we take air-conditioned coaches or public buses at the start and finish of the walks. All associated costs with this transport are met by us.

Our guides

We use experienced local leaders. We cannot emphasise enough the value of being guided on walks designed by leaders who live in the locality.

Because of their love of the regions, they are both enthusiastic and knowledgeable and will share with you the regional experiences that make our holidays so special.

Group size

Our groups are typically between eight and 14 and therefore have little impact on the locals and their environment.

Your safety

Our leaders are first-aid qualified and carry first-aid kits and mobile phones.

Single travellers

Our groups are renowned for their friendliness and as a result most weeks have several single walkers. We try to keep the single supplement to a minimum.

Friends & partners

On several of our walking holidays we offer painting or photography holidays at the same time for partners with different interests – just phone our office to enquire.
