Some of our daysOlá HavanaArriving at Cuba's Havana airport around 5pm it's a short drive into Havana where we stay overnight. There's time before dinner to wander around the main square and tune into the sights and sounds of Havana. Music drifts through open doorways and musicians play salsa, son or samba in the bars. 30 minute transfer from the airport approximately.
Troubadours' townAfter breakfast we head south by coach to the coastal city of Trinidad, where the museums include a Troubadours' House (Casa de la Trova) and a House of Music (Casa de la Musica). We stop en-route for lunch arriving mid-afternoon in Trinidad. Time to limber up and sing together before dinner. 5 hour transfer approximately. Getting in tune with TrinidadAfter a morning singing in the open air, under the trees at our hotel, we wander through the winding cobblestone side streets and squares into town for lunch, getting into the rhythm of Cuba's pace of daily life. In the afternoon we enjoy a sightseeing walk, taking in the pastel colour buildings and listening to street musicians along the way. Singing on the beachWe spend the morning in the seaside village of La Boca, singing by the sea in the shade of acacia trees. After lunch we spend the afternoon swimming or relaxing on the beach under the palm trees. The rhythm of horses' hoovesA peaceful day based at a local farm where we sing while daily life on the farm goes on around us, as horses-and-carts and oxen work in the fields. After lunch we walk through the farmland. Free day by the seaThe many options include horse riding, a day at the beach, a catamaran to an offshore island, steam train ride through the valley of sugar mills, relaxing around the hotel pool, or just seeing where the vibe takes you, perhaps meeting local musicians and joining in with the local music and rhythms.
Water musicWe spend the morning singing in the shade of a grove of trees close to a river. Later we follow the river through countryside and small farms to a lovely waterfall and fill our lungs with fresh air. Havana good timeWaving farewell to gentle Trinidad we return to the excitement of Havana where music, song and salsa spills into the streets. We'll do as the locals do and stroll along the sea wall to watch the sunset over the sea. Later we'll have dinner in a local restaurant. 5 hour transfer approximately by coach. Havana's Old TownSightseeing on foot through old Havana - taking in the museums, street life, patios and squares of splendid Spanish colonial buildings, their grandeur crumbling or restored by UNESCO. We'll take time out in the afternoon before singing in a delightful Moorish inspired patio before dinner. Historic HemingwayA short drive out of town to Cojimar, where we'll walk across the small bridge to sing beneath the trees. We'll have lunch at a historic old bar that was a favourite of the author Ernest Hemingway, before coming back to Havana for a stroll along El Malecon seawall boulevard. Farewell to HavanaThe final morning is left free to enjoy Havana's sights and sounds independently then we will enjoy a special farewell lunch together in Havana before catching the coach for the airport at 4pm. 30 minute transfer approximately.
