Singing holidays in Havana & Trinidad
Singing holidays in Havana & Trinidad

Cuban music, 'Son', a blend of salsa rumba and mambo, has the laid back rhythm of the Cuban people. Music is played everywhere in bars and streets and it's a common sight to see someone carrying a guitar, a trombone or a double bass.

Cubans are friendly and welcoming. If you can speak a little Spanish, so much the better, but music is the shared language here, so impromptu friendships can be struck with local singers and musicians.

We'll sing outdoors in the shade of trees near the hotel, or on the beach, and when we visit a farm around Trinidad you can expect some of the farm workers to stop what they’re doing in the heat of the sun and join in some music making while we sing. We're also friends of the local choir leader who will certainly ensure we share some time with the choir.

Havana's salsa bars are buzzing, it's free to go in, just buy a drink and throw a few coins in the musicians' hat, and if you can speak a few words of Spanish, you can mingle and party, with the Cuban cocktail of choice, rum mojitos.
