Croatia • Istria • VRSAR NATURAL VOICE Singing holiday
Slide show with 8 images
Croatian culture and song in idyllic Istria Based in the old hilltop fishing village of Vrsar, we look out from our peaceful hotel across the turquoise waters of the Adriatic, beyond which on a clear day you can see the snow-covered Dolomites rising skywards. During the week we explore a large part of the beautiful Istrian peninsular, enjoy it’s wonderful Italian influenced gastronomy and even pop across the border into Slovenia for a touch of Austro-Hungarian waterfront style. As ever we will sing each day and join with a local choir to sing Klappa.
A typical itinerary on this Acapella singing holiday in Croatia
Meeting at Pula airport we transfer to Vrsar, and arrive in time to explore the old streets before dinner.
On this acapella singing holiday in Croatia, we spend most mornings singing in the local church, and we will often sing away from home in the many places we visit. As ever we plan to join with a local choir and through them we will be introduced to the acapella singing of traditional Klappa. On most of the outings, swimming is possible and it’s always available close to our hotel in Vrsar. There’s at least one option for swimming on our adventures and there is the option to swim below the hotel although it’s a bit of a walk back up to the hotel – that’s why the views are so good!
We have five planned half-day adventures when we sing away from our village. One day we take a boat trip to the fabulous and colourful old city of Rovinj stopping on a deserted island for lunch and songs on our return. Other visits include the pretty hilltop towns of Groznjan and Oportai with an optional easy walk, truffle hunting with dogs, an easy walk on Cape Kamenja with views of the Dalmatian islands, a visit to Croatia’s top goat cheese maker and a trip across the border into Slovenia to enjoy the beautiful waterfront town of Piran.
A chance to enjoy the relaxing surroundings of the hotel, walk down by the waterfront or get up early and catch the ferry to Venice where you can spend almost a full day before the evening ferry home.
We depart early for Pula airport.
Note: This is a typical week on our singing holiday in Istria, Croatia. Weather conditions will influence the final itinerary.
Where we stay on this easy walking holiday in Istria, Croatia
Hotel Vista sits in the old hill part of Vrsar and looks out over several small islets and the marina below. Lovingly restored from a collection of six old stone houses by a young couple, the hotel creates a beautiful ambience on several levels. The rooms are all attractively restored, there are several different exterior relaxing areas with the option of shade and the staff could not be more helpful. There is no lift but we have booked the rooms with least stairs – usually around 7 to bedrooms and an additional 15 steps to the breakfast area. All but two rooms have sea views.
