Photography holiday

Italy • Veneto • Venice

Venetian canal at night

Venice by moonlight
On these short breaks, our goal is simple but challenging... to capture the essence of Venice without the distraction of tourists!

Winter visiting

Venice is at its most peaceful before dawn and after dusk. By deliberately going during the winter months we can be confident of achieving uncluttered images without having to get up too early or going too late to bed!

This means we will be out and about after dinner and before breakfast. If we are lucky we will utilise moonlight in our shots and our February holiday is planned to coincide with the full moon, which means high tides and the reflection of moonlight on water. During the day we will have the chance to rest and review our images. Guests can also take this opportunity to visit tourist highlights with our local guide or solo.

Brightly coloured houses in Burano

Where we go

Over the course of this holiday we will take a Vaporetto to see the incredible coloured houses of Burano and seek out images from the multitude of options around the Accademia of Dorsodoro, Cannaregio, Castello, the Basilica di San Marco and the Doge's Palace.

Highlighting the low light

Photographing in the dark as well as dusk and dawn can result in moody and evocative images and will allow guests to experiment with the creative use of longer shutter speeds.
