Magical mists and mysteries
This is a week of dreamy landscapes, medieval hilltop towns
and fabulous cities. With such rich variety, it's a feast for the eyes and the camera.
Some of our days
Arrival day
We arrive in San Quirico d'Orcia in time for an exploration of the town.
Shooting around San Quirico
San Quirico d'Orcia, on our doorstep, is a beautiful town dating back to Etruscan
times, full of medieval and Renaissance buildings. A perfect location to get started.
Visual revelry
The morning will be spent shooting the Abbazia di Sant'Antimo, a visually stunning
Romanesque church. After lunch we explore in and around the beautiful village of
Montalcino.
Bagno Vignoni
This is the rolling Tuscan landscape at its best, usually accentuated by the mist
filling the valley floor. In the evening there's a visit to the nearby Roman spa
of Bagno Vignoni with its bubbling pools.
Free day in Siena
Creative opportunities abound from the unique Piazza del Campo to the Duomo. A city
is not only about its buildings – Siena allows candid people shots, perhaps at the
lively weekly market.
Montepulciano
Montepulciano is one of the classic viewpoints that epitomise this most beautiful
landscape. The fortified hilltop medieval town of Montepulciano offers superb opportunities
within its walls and distant views beyond.
San Quirico
We will use the final day to look back over our photographs and revisit our favourite
locations with a fresh approach trying out some of the new techniques we have developed
through the week
Departure day
We depart early for Rome airport.
Note: This is a selection of the many options available. Weather conditions,
group interests and the tutor will influence the final itinerary.
