This is a very special island – a land of myth and legend, with spectacular settings created by volcanic activity. Important archaeological sites, a million opportunities for candid shots and sunsets over sparkling seas. The quality of the light that will stay with you for ever.

Some of our days

Arrival day

A 15 minute transfer gets us to our hotel in time for our first spectacular sunset.

Discovery day

A brief tour of the island and its classic imagery – the volcanic caldera, white houses, blue-domed churches, sparkling seas and church bell towers.

Up to the top

A day exploring the inland villages of Vothonas, Pyrgos and Exo Gonia including a drive to the highest point on the island at Messa Vouno with its extraordinary views of the Aegean.

Free day

A chance to visit some exclusive shops in Thira, or enjoy one of the many boat trips.

Not forgetting the Vernacular

We spend the morning learning how to photograph vernacular architecture. Later we wander through the town of Thira and catch the sunset.

A long way back

We visit Akrotiri – the best-preserved prehistoric settlement in the Aegean. Later we visit Emborio with its flower filled fields and windmills before catching the sunset in Oia.

More wine

After a morning visiting a small vineyard with many photo opportunities we take a break before exploring Oia at night.

Departure day

The airport is so close that transfers can be arranged to suit individual flights.
