Cadillacs in the Caribbean
A typical itinerary
A short drive to our hotel in Centro Havana, to soak up the atmosphere before dinner.
A local day
From our hotel roof terrace, we look down on the taxi queues and traffic – a great way to quietly get in the mood before heading off to the waterfront down Paseo di Marti - Havana's famed walkway.
A day in old Havana, a melting pot of cultures embedded in its narrow streets and squares. The cafe society lifestyle still thrives amid the faded grandeur of the colonial buildings.
We visit Cojimar, where Hemingway wrote The Old Man and the Sea, later visiting the Organoponico in Alamar - the community vegetable patch. On our return we visit the Hemingway museum and Finca la Vigia, his home for many years, before ending the day in his favourite bar, El Floridita.
Unwind in the rooftop pool, walk the streets for any shots you missed or hire a 50s taxi.
Down to the beach
On the south coast we find Batabano, a fishing inlet, returning via a few downtown barrios and an open-air salsa club.
On the waterfront
We spend the day exploring the Malecon - Havana's famous historical waterfront - crashing waves, the blue Straits of Florida, fishermen and cruising Cadillacs bathed in the glorious colours of the setting sun.
A farewell lunch in town before catching the coach to the airport.
