Painting day workshop

England • Gloucestershire • Berkeley

Pastels, step-by-step

Painting with pastels
Christine Russell will be teaching the techniques of painting with soft pastels at her art studio in Gloucestershire.

Christine Russell is an artist working in oils, acrylics and watercolours, but her preferred medium is pastels. She works in a painterly way with pastels to capture light, texture and mood in her landscape and still life paintings.

In this short course you will be introduced to the magic of soft pastel - the easiest and most expressive medium. As it is a ‘dry’ medium, you can work on a picture in one sitting without needing to let it dry. Mistakes are easily rectified - a bonus for beginners and those wishing to be more experimental.

Our subject matter will include a choice of still life or landscape from photographs.

In a relaxed and informal atmosphere Christine aims to pass on her skills and some of the excitement she feels every time she begins to paint.

Christine is a very popular art tutor, known for her patience and encouragement as well as her expertise. With no more than ten people at each workshop, you can be assured of receiving plenty of tuition.
