Day workshops for artists

England

Nothing will do more for your painting skills than quality time with a professional tutor. We've asked our top experts to run a series of workshops for our artist guests, each focusing on a different aspect of putting colour to surface. Their skills and experience will give you the chance to learn a wide range of techniques, tips and tricks of the trade in a short space of time.

Mastering Watercolours Exploring pastels Acrylic techniques

Mastering watercolours

Beginning with basic drawing skills, we move on to demonstrate the ins and outs of paints, brushes and papers and what you can do with them. To this we add an understanding of atmosphere and mood, viewpoint, composition, tone and colour. Working to a recipe we keep things simple so that you can develop some good habits from the outset.

Exploring pastels

Soft pastel is a medium that is perfect for both the beginner and the experienced artist. Major advantages of pastel include no drying time between stages and, for the beginner, pastel is very forgiving – at the flick of a brush any mistakes can be easily rectified. On this course we explore the importance of composition, colour and tone in the making of a good picture.

Acrylic techniques

Learn how this versatile paint can help to develop your style. During the day we will explore various painting techniques with a view to improving your individual style. Unlike oil paints acrylics dry quickly, enabling the artist to build up layers of paint. It can also be diluted with water to create washes. Throughout the day we will address the use of colours and suitable equipment.
Locations
We are planning to run the days in a variety of UK-based locations for your convenience.
These workshops are an evolving programme, and up-to-date details can be found by contacting the office.
We'll set up camp in a suitable indoor base, with access to a garden or other outdoor area.Your tutor will phone each participant beforehand to discuss your interests and what you would like to focus on.You need only bring the minimum kit with you.
