Miro, mountains and monasteries on magical Mallorca
A typical itinerary on this painting holiday in Mallorca, Spain
Leaving Palma we arrive in Pollenca in time to explore this pretty village before dinner. Your painting tutor will give an informal introduction and painting plan for the days ahead over a delicious meal made with local produce.
Around Old Pollenca
A great day around this lovely market town. Squares, narrow streets, honey-coloured buildings and a beautiful Roman bridge all with a mountain backdrop.
Looking at lluc
High in the Tramuntana mountains lies the Monastery of Lluc. These magnificent buildings are surrounded by spectacular mountain peaks, and by way of contrast there is a delightful botanical garden. Subjects range from the majestic to the intimate.
Cala san Vincente
One of the smallest tourist destinations on the coast, this is essentially still a fishing village. You may have to share one of the three beaches with the local fishermen, hauling in their nets. There is plenty to sketch and paint, including the lovely views towards the cliffs of the Formentor peninsula.
Relax around our hotel or take the bus to Palma – the charming capital of Mallorca with many museums, stylish shops and of course the magical Miro museum.
The hill villages
A short hop from our hotel we find the rural villages of Moscari and Campanet. In the villages and in the landscape between subjects abound – almond and olive groves, rushing streams, tiny churches village squares and mountain vistas and all with a sense of peace.
Cap de Formentor
A day spent in this spectacular place – a rugged and dramatic landscape at the northernmost point of Mallorca. Formentor lighthouse perches on the edge, once only accessed by sea or a long mule track. Sketch and paint the lighthouse, shimmering sea and rocky landscapes from many of the lookout points on the headland.
We depart early for Palma airport.
