Gentle landscapes and the prettiest of villages
Geraniums cascade from balconies, storks nest on top of tiled church spires and dogs lie in the shade - it's a sleepy area but utterly delightful. For those looking for a week of tranquility as well as painting this is the place.

Some of our days

Arrival day

Leaving Seville we arrive in Alájar in time to explore this pretty village before a reviving dinner.

Around Alájar

A leisurely stroll around the village will provide you with a host of subjects to paint, from wrought iron balconies and ancient doorways, to elegant villas and ramshackle old sheds.

Away from it all

A short trip in the minibus takes us out to the beautiful valley of San Bartolomé where we take refuge beneath the spreading arms of an ancient oak to paint the charming old hermitage. Set in rolling pasture land we have only the cows and the birds to keep us company.

Church in Aracena

Life in a sleepy hamlet

Just a couple of miles from Alájar we find ourselves in the quaint little hamlet of El Cabezuelo. Passing walled vegetable gardens and black pigs rooting amongst the cork oaks, it is arguably the prettiest hamlet in the region.

Free day

A great chance to visit Seville or the more easily accessible regional centre of Aracena.

Head in the clouds

The dramatically situated Peña de Arias Montano provides the base for today. Perched above Alájar the views are breath-taking, taking in the painting locations of the previous days.

Down to earth

Back in Alájar for our final day and a chance to revisit old haunts, rework paintings from earlier in the week, or simply relax.

Departure day

After an early breakfast, we will transfer you back to Seville airport.

Note: This is a selection of the many options available. Weather conditions, group interests and the tutor will influence the final itinerary.
