Fertile valleys and mountain springs
Our itinerarySunday – arrival dayTransfer to Marrakech hotel and first visit to the famous Jma el Fna Square. MondayWe cross the Atlas mountains stopping on route for lunch and some brief sketches. We arrive in the Valley of theRoses in time for a wander through the fields or a sketch from the terrace. Tuesday and WednesdayTwo days sitting in the fields beside the river capturing the light on water, and the village life that will be going on all around us.Women and children brighten the fields and families on donkeys drift across the landscape.
ThursdayContinuing west, we arrive at the Unesco World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. After lunch, we sit by the river and paint the ancient town and kasbah, locations for many movies. FridayA gentle day out takes us four miles along the river bed to an ancient, and mostly abandoned kasbah. Nesting stalks, bright fields, almonds and peace make this a day to remember. Optional trip there and back by camel. SaturdayWe retrace our tracks across the Atlas, arriving in Marrakech in time to enjoy the late afternoon and evening in the famous square of Jma el Fna. Sunday – departure dayAt the time of your choosing, a taxi will take you to your flight.
Note: This holiday is more of a sketching tour as a result of the
travel. Large pieces of finished work might be impractical but you will certainly
return with many sketches, notes and unforgettable memories. Weather conditions,
group interests and the individual tutor will influence the final itinerary.
