Fertile valleys and mountain springs
To the south of the high Atlas lies the desert, but amazingly in this harsh landscape flow rivers that spring from the mountains and whose irrigated valleys are green and abundant and home to the many families that live there.

Our itinerary

Sunday – arrival day

Transfer to Marrakech hotel and first visit to the famous Jma el Fna Square.

Monday

We cross the Atlas mountains stopping on route for lunch and some brief sketches. We arrive in the Valley of theRoses in time for a wander through the fields or a sketch from the terrace.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Two days sitting in the fields beside the river capturing the light on water, and the village life that will be going on all around us.Women and children brighten the fields and families on donkeys drift across the landscape.

Thursday

Continuing west, we arrive at the Unesco World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. After lunch, we sit by the river and paint the ancient town and kasbah, locations for many movies.

Friday

A gentle day out takes us four miles along the river bed to an ancient, and mostly abandoned kasbah. Nesting stalks, bright fields, almonds and peace make this a day to remember. Optional trip there and back by camel.

Saturday

We retrace our tracks across the Atlas, arriving in Marrakech in time to enjoy the late afternoon and evening in the famous square of Jma el Fna.

Sunday – departure day

At the time of your choosing, a taxi will take you to your flight.
