Italy • Tuscany • Val d'Orcia
Classical mix in burnt Siena
Tuscan landscapes, cypress trees, hot springs and some of
the most famous and beautiful Renaissance towns in Europe.
Some of our days
Arrival day
We arrive at our hotel in San Quirico D'Orcia and either relax in its poolside garden
with its countryside views or explore the medieval village.
Around our new home
We will spend the day walking and sketching in and around San Quirico.
High and wide
Amidst the fertile, undulating farmlands of 'Le Crete', a deserted hilltop farmhouse
and chapel provide the vistas that typify Tuscany; sheep bleat and graze below and
the spire of Pienza punctuates the Tuscan haze beyond.
Hot springs and cool shade
Bagno Vignoni – the prettiest of villages, is centred around hot springs and ancient
thermal baths that reflect all we need for a delightful Tuscan day.
Free day
A chance to visit classic Siena, laze in the hotel gardens or beside its pool, or
stir yourself for a closer look at San Quirico D'Orcia, or just keep painting!
Montecchiello
Another beautiful, high walled village with the light and shade of its narrow streets
providing views at every turn. Panoramas to Pienza beckon and beyond is the hazy
essence of Tuscany.
Vineyards galore
Depending on the season, we wander among hilltop vineyards or olive groves enjoying
the hospitality of the owners. With our picnic we taste the fruits of their labours,
their famed oils and wines.
Departure day
We depart for Rome airport after an early breakfast.
Note: This is a selection of the many options available. Weather conditions,
group interests and the tutor will influence the final itinerary.
