Between sea and sky
A typical itinerary on this painting holiday in Cinque Terre
Our hotel, at Monterosso al Mare, is a short hop from Pisa airport. There's time to enjoy the view, swim or do some sketching
Monterosso is famous for its beach, but its eye-catching feature is the Monterosso Giant, a 14m high sculpture of King Neptune jutting out from the cliff face.
This little picture-postcard fishing port is just perfect painted from on high. We look down on its small harbour with tiny beach, tightly hugged by church and town. The castle imposes its presence from above.
On top of a promontory, Corniglia is the most rural of the Cinque Terre villages, surrounded by vineyards and terraces, broadening both our artistic horizons and our palette.
Take a break on this painting holiday and take the chance to relax or visit Riomaggiore, Portofino or Genoa by train.
Here in the oldest of the Cinque Terre towns, the cheerily painted, steeply terraced houses have long provided inspiration to artists. No doubt the result of the local Sciacchetra wine.
We return to this magical village as there is such an abundance of great painting settings and opportunities.
We leave early for Pisa airport.
Note: This is a selection of the many options available on this painting holiday in the Cinque Terre, Italy. Weather conditions, group interests and the tutor will influence the final itinerary.
