Life around the lagoon

Transfer from Cochin airport to our first hotel in The Backwaters region. The Backwaters - four nights
Our hotel fronts the lagoon and from the garden, we can paint the birds and boats
that pass by throughout the day. There will be chances for misty images in the early
morning and fabulous sunsets at the end of the day. One day we will visit the nearby
bird sanctuary and we will have a half-day boat ride to get a real feel for life
on the river from water level. Fort Cochin - three nightsWe stay on the ancient headland that separates The Backwaters from the Indian Ocean. This old European settlement has many wonderful buildings that remind us of its rich colonial past. The old synagogue, fantastical Chinese fishing nets and the burial place of Vasco de Gama are a few of the fascinating features. However, it is the water that will draw our attention. We may need to get up early to catch the Chinese fishing nets in action, but with the private hotel jetty reaching out into the mouth of the lagoon; we can also paint life on the waterways a little later in the day! Note: For those with a particular interest, there will be the opportunity
to work on images of birds and to take the time to observe closely, their patterns
of behaviour.
