Slide show with 8 images
Andalucia, spanning the entire south of Spain, is home to some of the most culturally significant cities in Europe, with arguably some of the most important monuments anywhere on earth.
Andalucia, derived from the Arabic Al-Andalus, has a rich Moorish heritage and wonderful examples of Arab architecture built during the eight centuries they inhabited this region. Cordoba was once the capital of Islamic Spain and became the richest city in Europe until 1236. La Mezquita is probably one of the most beautiful mosques ever constructed, and one of the largest anywhere in the world
On our sightseeing tour of the western corner of Andalucia, we will take in important cities such as Seville, Cordoba, Jerez and Malaga aswell as lesser known gems, Osuna, Ronda, the Donana National Park and Sanlucar de Barrameda.
Sanlucar de Barrameda offers wonderful beaches and a waterside location at the mouth of the Guadalquivil River, situated opposide the Donana National Park. In the far south west corner of Andalucia, it is only 54 km from Cadiz, and was declared a Cultural Historical-artistic site in 1973. The city is famous for manzanilla, prawns, beach horse racing and flamenco!
Seville, the capital of Andalucia, is dominated by the glorious Cathedral, one of the largest Gothic churches anywhere in the world, and The Alcazar, one of Spain’s greatest Moorish buildings built for Castilian kings.
