The Alpujarras National Park

Everywhere you go in the Alpujarras, the snow-covered peaks of the Sierra Nevada – Europe's Himalayas - provide a stunning backdrop. These great mountains are contoured by acequías, irrigation channels created by the Moors hundreds of years ago. The water they still provide nurtures the green cultivated slopes of the villages with their plantations of raspberries, kiwi fruit and pomegranates.

Visit this landscape of rocks and ravines early in the season to see the riot of botanical spring colour. Travel with us later in the year and the colours have changed magically to the brilliant reds and golds of a mountain autumn.
