Madeira

A mountain retreat

Officially discovered by Portuguese navigators in 1419, the archipelago of Madeira is situated in the north Atlantic, some 437 miles away from the coast of Africa. The island has a rich history and still maintains many of its traditions.

With its mild climate and luxuriant vegetation, Madeira is a wonderful oasis and the people seem to be moulded by the land itself - austere like the mountains yet sweet and warm like its famous wine.

Where we stay

Pousada dos Vinháticos
