Malta • Gozo
The Island of Gozo Gozo is the tiny sister isle of Malta. The islands are, together, no bigger than the Isle of Wight but they host an enormous variety of visual and historic richness. The weather is typically Mediterranean, and the Gozitans wonderfully welcoming, perhaps because they have been invaded and colonised throughout history - Phoenicians, Romans, Turks, Italians, French and English have all left their mark on the Maltese psyche, looks, landscape and language. Maltese is the only Semitic language written in the Roman alphabet and although its roots are Aramaic, it is peppered with all the other languages of its past.
