Umbria is rightly known as the Green Heart of Italy. Famed for the natural wonders of its landscape it is also home to a seemingly inexhaustible array of artistic and architectural treasures. This balance between the natural and artistic is what makes it so special.

We base ourselves in the famously beautiful hilltop town of Orvieto which sits dramatically above a crumbling volcanic cliff. Famed since the Etruscan times, there is a fabulous duomo (cathedral) and it's quite simply a delightful town in which to wonder.

Any reference to Umbria would be incomplete without mention of its food. This is the land of the truffle, fine olive oils, game, succulent pork, the freshest local produce and of course, excellent wine.

Right in the heart of the town, The Grand Hotel Italia is based on a 19th century Palace. There is a lovely terrace and a great sense of elegance. There are comfortable reading rooms and a there is wireless internet connection throughout the building.
