Cinque Terre, Monterosso al Mare Cinque Terre comprises five small villages on the Ligurian coast. The villages were long isolated due to their location and landscape and were only reached by the outside world about 100 ago, when the railway line was built. As a result, the characteristic Ligurian culture has been conserved.
